Dewalt’s DCD780C2 20V MAX Compact Drill-Driver Kit

  • Dewalt’s DCD780C2 20V MAX Compact Drill-Driver Kit

Everyone on the planet needs a drill-driver. Everyone should enjoy the convenience, versatility and possibility of a good, tough power drill. Not everyone, however, requires the power produced by 18-volts – or do they? Dewalt’s DCD780C2 20V MAX compact drill-driver, releasing this September 2011, brings 18-volts of power to the table in a package so compact, lightweight, and ergonomically comfortable that the former conception of an 18V tool (as clumsy or cumbersome or too big for an average user) is totally obliterated.

Ideal for virtually every type of user, this drill-driver is designed for versatility and accessibility. The thing can fit just about anywhere you’d it need to, and with Dewalt’s Lithium-Ion 20V MAX batteries, the tool is a lot more powerful than it looks. The DCD780C2 comes standard with a 1.5-Ah battery, but, for those that require longer run-times, the thing is also compatible with the 3.0-Ah 20V MAX batteries (these come standard in Dewalt’s Premium 20V MAX tool kits or, of course, can be purchased separately).

Speaking of batteries, though, the battery technology in this tool platform is pretty slick. It allows the battery to be smaller, lighter-weight, and to actually produce a little extra run-time. They boast an efficient slide-on rather than a stem-up design which contributes to the well-balance and compactness of the tool itself, and, to clear up any confusions I may have deposited above, although the 20V MAX batteries produce only 18V of working energy, they are engineered to deliver the most efficient power possible.

The drill-driver also features a high-speed, two-speed transmission (ranging from 0-600 and 0-2,000 RPM) allowing the drill to outperform in a variety of situations and applications. Its heavy-duty1/2″ ratcheting chuck additionally provides superior bit gripping strength. This enhances the overall power and convenience the drill instinctively delivers and ensures your results are precisely on-point.

Of course, the tool is comfortable to just plain operate, but thanks to its lightweight and ergonomic design the thing offers superior comfort on the job. The tool is simple to use during both awkward and extended applications, its well balanced, and with the inclusion of a belt hook, the thing is portable to boot. Even without the benefit of said belt clip, as the tool weighs just 3.4-lbs, it as simple to lug around as an extension of your own self.

So, with all that power packed into a sleek and comfortable design, I can’t imagine anyone, crafter, carpenter, or casa(home)-owner, who’d turn their nose up or down at this drill-driver. It is a universal positive which, in some form or another, provides benefits to every type of tool user.
