June 2011's Quick Tip of the Month

  • Blade Tooth-Count for Different Types of Cutting

When cutting lumber it’s important to ensure you use the right blade with the right tooth-count to suit each application. When cross-cutting, ensure the blade has enough teeth to have at least 3 – 4 of them (3 – 4 at the front of the blade, or 6 – 8 teeth in total) buried in the wood at any given time. Similarly, with rip-cutting, you want to ensure you have at least 2 – 3 (or 4 – 6 in total) teeth in your lumber at all times during the cut.
